San Diegans Paige and Jeff were drawn to Los Cabos as a wedding location from the beginning of their planning process. The ease of flying in and out of the coastal city in Mexico made it so travel plans for them and their guests would be a breeze. Plus, the location catered to adults and kids alike – an important aspect for the couple.

“This wedding was as much about our kids as it was about us as a couple,” the pair says.

Lucky for Paige and Jeff, they planned on having an intimate wedding from the very beginning – even before COVID hit – which would have forced them to have a guest count small anyway. Unfortunately, the pandemic did change the couple’s plans to visit their venue, Solaz Resort, and meet with their coordinator and vendors. All meetings were moved to video chat, and each vendor remained flexible to the parameters changing on a monthly (sometimes weekly) basis.

“Everyone did a great job communicating,” the couple says. “Bruno and Jose, our main contacts at Solaz were incredible! We now truly consider so many of the folks that helped with everything as friends.”

The 12 wedding guests were ecstatic when they got the news of where the wedding would be, one guest, in particular, couldn’t have been more excited.

“One of our closest friends said it gave her a much-needed excuse to pamper herself and relax after a two year battle with colon cancer,” Paige says.

Once all the guests were notified and the main details of the planning process were ironed out, the bride set her sights on finding a stellar photographer and stylist for the wedding day. Research on social media brought Paige to connect with Olga Bustos of Los Cabos Makeup and photographer Fabi Rosas who would fulfill her dream of having top-notch wedding photos.

“The images last a lifetime so those were two important pieces that we made sure to not worry so much about a budget,” the bride says.

To ensure all preparations and decisions were completed and smoothed out in time for the wedding, Paige and Jeff decided to arrive four days early. No details were left out or overlooked. The kids even got to participate in the menu and cake tastings with the staff at Solaz, making them feel even more a part of the special day.

“Given everything that has gone in the year 2020,” the couple says, “somehow our wedding exceeded our expectations and it felt wonderful to disconnect and find some joy!”
