Real Destination Wedding WednesdayWords by Jennifer Stein A spring destination wedding in Tuscany...most would say, is what dreams are made of. And they'd be right, but for Shannon and Mike, it's exactly what they did for their wedding getaway.
What they really wanted was time with friends and family, rather than the large, five-hour extravaganza known as the typical hometown wedding. "We chose to have a destination wedding because neither one of us wanted a large wedding and we really wanted to spend quality time with our close friends and family members," Shannon recalls.
With a small group of 25, the couple rented out a private villa and although they had unpredictable weather that day (sunshine, rain, hail, sun again) they managed to pull of the event and bring the wedding indoors.
Before the wedding, the decided to experience the destination as a group. "We had all our guests join us in Florence for a lunch at a local Osteria then for a 1950's Fiat tour including a stop at a local winery," recalls Shannon. With the help of a planning company in Italy (Weddings by Regency), the couple pulled off the entire event, relatively drama free. They also opted to bring photographers with them from the U.S.. The team of Dionne and Joe Haglund from The Shooting Gallery Photography is who they used and who has provided the amazing images you see above.
Good luck to the lovley couple! Here's to wishing you a happy ending to your beautiful story!
