Great Places for Romantic Sunsets
Words by Jennifer Stein Words by Allyson Murphy
It’s everyone’s mental image of what it means to honeymoon - watching the sunset hand-in-hand while sipping a tropical drink. And that’s because there’s not really much in life that can compare to the calm that washes over you when you’re with the one you love in a perfect setting.
Trying to decide what destination might be right for your own wedding or honeymoon? Check out these three world-class options for some incredible photo - and kissing - opportunities.
Eagle Beach in Aruba is known as one of the best in the world. The combination of powdery white sand and crystal clear warm waters is incredibly inviting. Dotted with the occasional divi divi tree, which always point southwest, there’s just no better spot to end a day and wait for the stars to come out. Even if you’re staying elsewhere on the island, portions of this coast are reserved as a public beach.
Or consider an evening wedding ceremony right on the beach, timed with the setting sun. Bucuti Beach Resort is known for their romantic wedding and honeymoon packages.
The cliffs of Santorini, Greece, are simply spectacular, there’s no other way to describe it. The black rock volcanic mountains are dotted with white stucco buildings. The switch-back staircases, balconies and roof decks provide perfect views of the water and sky. Every night crowds gather to watch the sun sink below the horizon. For couples looking to splurge on a little luxury, check out Sun Rocks Santorini.

Honeymooners Jen and Eli were blown away by the hotel’s architecture and hospitality. Having “an amazing balcony that looked onto the blue waters of the caldera,” made the whole trip even sweeter.
Sunset Cruises on Sydney Harbor are the perfect option for couples who might not be beach-crazy. After a big day of seeing the Australian city’s sights, board a boat where you’re greeted with hors d'oeuvres and an a cold drink. Cruise around with your sweetie, watching golden light reflect off the buildings, the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
Many of the tour companies, like Captain Cook and Magisitc Cruises also include dinner and dancing on the yachts, so you get a whole evening of romance and fun.
