A Real East-Meets-West Wedding

Niveen and Michael had not one, but two beautiful destination weddings. The couple had an East coast wedding which embraced Niveen's Pakistani culture. The bride had traditonal Mehendi, or Henna, on her hands which is considered lucky and beneficial to the couple's future. They were married at the Lyman Estate in Waltham, MA.

The historic New England mansion set a beautiful backdrop for the vibrant colors of the couple's ceremony. The room became a sea of vivid reds, blues, golds and greens. Niveen was escorted to the ceremony by the female members of her family. An important part of a Pakistani wedding ceremony is the emphasis on the joining of the two families.

Niveen and Michael held a more traditional American ceremony in Santa Barbara, CA. The couple held the ceremony at Fess Parker's Resort and exchanged vows on the beach. Niveen wore a different gown which still kept with Pakistani tradition, but had the traditional creamy, American palate.
We at Destination I Do view hundreds of beautiful weddings a month, so it was nice to have this beautiful celebration cross our path. While it's certainly not the norm, it was refreshing and interesting to learn about the Pakistani culture and traditions. We are sure the couple's future is as bright as their bridal colors.
