A Southern Couple Does Seaside Chic in This Real WeddingWords by Courtney Kellar Words by Courtney Cox

Abbie and Karl are classic southern sweethearts who love nothing more than spending time on the farm with their horses and dogs. So, when it came time to get hitched they wanted to stay in the region they loved while achieving the feel of a destination wedding. They settled on St Simons Island, Georgia and took advantage of local spots like the Avenue of Oaks and East Beach.
The ceremony and reception both took place at the Ocean Lodge, an open-air, Mediterranean style hotel. The columns and warm fresco-looking walls set a dramatic and romantic backdrop for these nuptials. Surrounded by their closest friends and family, Abbie and Karl said “I do” in a paved, garden setting.
Abbie looked the part of bride on her big day with a sweetheart, strapless gown. What was the perfect accessory to her elegant ensemble? A pair of pink cowboy boots! Karl looked like a perfect gentleman in his black suit and white shirt and tie. These are two looks that will certainly stand the test of time.
The overall theme of the wedding was seaside chic. Forget the bright blues and shells covering anything that will stand still. Abbie and Karl went for a more neutral color palate to complement the soft seaside setting and muted colors of their venue. However, small pops of color showed the couple’s sense of spontaneity.
Abbie and Karl left their horses at home for their big day, but their wedding still captured the classic romance that defines their relationship. Your wedding day should feel like something out of a fairytale and provide a reprieve from everyday life. This couple found the perfect balance of creating a one-of-a-kind day, while still showcasing not only their love for each other-but their personalities.
Destination I Do would like to offer our compliments to the couple’s photographer, Sara D. Harper Photography. There were so many stunning images of the couple it was hard to pick! Visit her blog for more images of Abbie and Karl’s wedding day.
