A Real-Life Wedding Full of Colombian Tradition

Yanette and Carlos reside in stunning Spain, but decided to head across the Atlantic to say “Si” in the South American country of Colombia. Yanette’s family is Colombian so it only made sense that the couple travel to their guests in the form of a destination wedding. The result was a lovely wedding with traditional Colombian flair.

The ceremony took place in Inglesia San Clemente, a beautiful church on the outskirts of Medellin. It was a unique service complete with live music, bubbles and oodles of confetti as the couple exited the church. The couple exchanged vows in front of all their most beloved friends and family.

After a short drive in their antique white car, the couple entered their reception at La Extramadura, to the welcoming of cheers and applause by their guests. The mountainside venue overlooked the city of Medellin and turned into a nightclub toward the end of the evening with bright lighting, fog and a famous local DJ.

Apparently, at a Colombian wedding you can have your cake and eat it too. It’s traditional to have two cakes at a Colombian wedding and the first cake is cut by the bride and groom as they first enter the reception and is followed by a champagne toast. The guests enjoy cake and drink champagne before dinner. Every kid’s dream, eh?
Let’s toast to the couple and wish them all the best in their future! Thanks for sharing your big day with us!
