Heather and Adam are both from the same New York town, but it took going to San Diego for their paths to cross. Half their friends and family reside in California and the other half in New York, so a destination wedding was a perfect fit. After all, most people would have to hop on a plane no matter what. Maui, Hawaii was the lovebirds’ aim and they said “I do,” in front of one of Hawaii’s famous sunsets.
Heather chose colors to complement the island locale with vibrant yellows and greens. She and Adam kept their looks classically romantic and, of course, comfortable for their beach wedding. Heather looked lovely in a strapless dress with long, chiffon layers. Her dramatic dangle earrings added a bit of interest to her look and also helped Heather to show off a fun side of her personality.
The couple exchanged vows on the lawn of the Five Palms Restaurant overlooking the beach. Getting married on a lawn just off the beach is a great alternative to sinking ankle deep in sand. The ceremony was simple and sweet and capped off by the blowing of a traditional Hawaiian pu (conch shell). The pineapple, also a Hawaiian staple, fit perfectly with the couple’s color scheme and was an easy addition to the wedding’s décor.
The couple’s reception also took place at Five Palms Restaurant and it was easy for guests to find their seats thanks to place cards snuggly fit inside mini Adirondack chairs. The flower centerpieces varied from simple white blossoms to yellow roses, all of which set a romantic scene. Purple dendrobium orchid’s covered the cake and made it obvious that this was a tropical affair.
We see hundreds of Hawaiian destination weddings a year and it’s always interesting to see how each couple makes the islands their temporary home. Heather and Adam were no exception and did a great job of complementing Hawaii’s natural beauty while not attempting to overshadow it. Thanks so much for sharing your images with us!
