Destination Wedding After Session: Continue to Capture the LoveWords by Courtney Kellar Words by Courtney Cox

I’ve never been married, but the idea of picking out your dream wedding dress and only getting to wear it for one day is absolutely heartbreaking! Why not extend the nuptial fun beyond W-day and consider a wedding “after session.” No, this doesn’t mean trash the dress – although you can do that if you want to. This couple had a destination wedding a few hours outside Paris, but couldn’t resist taking some bridal photos in the original “City of Love.”
In truth, a wedding after session can be whatever you want it to be. If you had a destination wedding then you obviously felt passionate about that location. Why not explore deeper into that region with a wedding after session and really capture what it is that made you fall in love with the area? Like I said before, don’t be frightened by thinking that an after session involves coating your couture gown in mud – these can be just as lovely and traditional as day-of wedding photos.
This couple’s after session took place in Paris, which lucky for them, is also where they live. If you have certain meaningful places in your hometown, but opted for a destination wedding, who’s to say you can’t have you cake and eat it too? When you return home from your wedding, have a photo after session in your dress so you can capture your commitment without leaving out sentimental hometown sites.
If it were me, I would get married in the mountains somewhere, but would love to return to my grandma’s small Indiana backyard. The idea of being photographed in my wedding dress where I spent my childhood elbow-deep in dirt is a sweet thought. The bottom line is, the fun doesn’t have to end on W-day. If you just can’t stand the idea of giving up the role of bride, consider a wedding after session in your dream dress and with your new husband or wife.
