Destination Wedding Mexico: A Sentimental Family AffairWords by Courtney Kellar Words by Courtney Cox

Weddings in general are always special, unforgettable events. Lauren and Travis took their destination wedding to the next level and made it not only beautiful, but lovingly sentimental. The couple met, and now live, in San Francisco. Lauren is from New York and Travis is from Seattle so, needless to say, a destination wedding was a perfect fit. After months of planning their dream wedding themselves, the couple was joined by their guests in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
This wedding was filled with family sentimentality from the start. Lauren’s “something blue” was a ring which had been in the family since the early 1900’s. It was originally a bracelet, but was made into a ring by Lauren’s grandmother. It made a gorgeous addition to the bride’s bouquet and certainly fit the occasion.
Lauren's best friend provided the “something borrowed.” The stunning gold and diamond bracelet and earrings Lauren wore were previously worn by Carolyn Modi (her bridesmaid) during her own Indian wedding. What girl doesn’t want to be covered in gorgeous bling as she walks down the aisle? The beautiful and glamorous accessories were a perfect match for Lauren’s form fitting, strapless gown.
The wedding set up camp at The Tides Zihuatanejo. The couple held their ceremony on the resort’s beach and exchanged vows under a beautiful thatched roof gazebo. Lauren and Travis wrote their own vows and it was a personal ceremony from start to finish. One really lovely touch was the couple’s custom made “unity cloth.” They had two pieces of lace sewn together and then their parents draped it over them during the ceremony.
Not only was the lace unity cloth a beautiful touch, but it is an heirloom the couple plans to pass down to their children. The couple’s entire wedding was filled with touching and romantic details. Much like the gorgeous pictures, there are many aspects to this destination wedding that the couple and their guests won’t soon forget.
