Destination Wedding Videos: Create Your Own Digital Memories!Words by Courtney Kellar Words by Courtney Cox

Arguably one of the most important aspects of your destination wedding will be the photography. This captures your wedding for all to see and allows you to re-live the day over and over again. Along with photography is wedding videography and it’s growing in popularity, but not everyone can afford it. Pinnacle Studio HD is the #1 video editing software and allows you to remember your W-day forever - in HD.
Pinnacle Studio programs allow you to make original movies and picture slideshows with over 1,800 effects and other content. Once complete, you can upload your movie or slideshow to YouTube, the web or burn it to a DVD. I tried Pinnacle Studio’s HD Ultimate v. 15 program also offers Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and Blu-ray authoring.
The program allows you to add music, video, special effects, transitions and photos to your project. After you’re finished you can export your video into any major movie file type (QuickTime, Windows Media, iPod compatible etc.) There’s no doubt that this program is capable of some pretty impressive things, but how user friendly is it?
It took about 25-30 minutes for the program to download onto my computer. Once you first open the program it gives you the option to watch an introductory video which will walk you through the process of creating a movie from scratch. I watched the video and all seemed well and good, but when it came right down to it, I had a hard time with this program.
In the interest of full-disclosure, I do typically struggle with this type of software. However, I’ve used Apple’s Final Cut Pro for a number of projects and so I have a bit of background with this type of program. Having software which is capable of so many things is often bittersweet. In my opinion, with tons of options and customizable features come complications.
The bottom line is, in my opinion, if you’re really serious about creating your own wedding video then Pinnacle Studio HD can get the job done. Just be forewarned that it may not be a walk in the park. You will either need experience with this type of software or a lot of time to dedicate. If you spent enough time learning the ins and outs of the program, then eventually you would end up with a beautiful homemade wedding video.
Pinnacle Studio is sold online or in Best Buy stores and retails for $100 (a lot less than it’s Apple counterpart, Final Cut Pro which is $299).
