Destination Wedding California: A Beachside FiestaWords by Courtney Kellar Words by Courtney Cox

Lindsay and Brendan already live, and fell in love, in an internationally known destination – New York. However, their romantic engagement occurred beachside and this is where the couple chose to hold the destination wedding of their dreams. After months of planning from across the country, the couple and their nearest and dearest traveled to Carlsbad, California for a “Southern California wedding fiesta!”
The couple wanted a wedding which was personal, laid-back, elegant and a bit non-traditional. What Lindsay and Brendan got was the best of both worlds – a SoCal beach location (La Costa Resort & Spa) with a Spanish fiesta flair! Their color scheme of coral red, turquoise and cobalt blue were not only unique, but fit their theme perfectly.
Lindsay is a graphic designer and chose to design the couple’s entire invitation suite herself! These were truly “a labor of love” as she chose to have the design printed in only black and then hand-painted each invitation herself with watercolor!
Color played an instrumental part in this wedding by not only setting the tone, but guiding the couple toward several key decisions. For example, Lindsay couldn’t pass up a pair of aqua Christian Louboutin heels as her “something blue.” The bride also transitioned from the more traditional ceremony to her fiesta-filled reception by donning a bright red bolero she purchased on Etsy.
Contrary to destination wedding custom, this couple didn’t let their location dictate their color scheme. Instead, they brought a Spanish flair to the beach and got the best of both worlds with a gorgeous backdrop and party-inducing flavor. Congrats to Lindsay and Brendan for making their destination wedding dreams a reality!
