When couples decide to hold a destination wedding or go on a honeymoon, they pick the destination, buy the plane tickets and go. What some people fail to forget, however, is the expenses you will incur once you arrive at your destination. This is true for both the couple and their guests. If you’re thinking of holding your destination wedding or honeymoon in Hawaii, there’s a way to plan ahead for these everyday expenses: the Go O’ahu Card.
Geared toward newlyweds, the card gives couples the ability to save up to 55% on your honeymoon activities. However, who says destination wedding guests can’t buy a card to use while they’re visiting? The pass provides flexibility and cost savings and allows you to visit unlimited attractions while the card is valid. How it works is you pay a flat price for the Go O’ahu Card and then have access to over 35 attractions and tours.
You can choose between one, two, three, five or seven day cards and then use them over a 14 day timeframe. Once you use the card for the first time, your 14 day time limit to use the card begins. What this means is that you don’t have to try and cram 35 activities into 7 consecutive days. If you’ve purchased a 7 day card you have 14 days out of which to choose to visit your desired attractions.
Here are some sample activities and an example of a three day itinerary using the Go O’ahu Card:
o Day 1 – Water Fun
-Visit Hanauma Bay Snorkel Adventure. See a coral reef and over 450+ types of fish
-Get out on the water on the luxurious Makani Camaran for an afternoon sail
- Rent an umbrella or lounge and finish the day relaxing on the beach (or rent a boogie board to ride the waves)
o Day 2 – North Shore Adventure
- Head to Kualoa Ranch for the beautiful Secret Island Beach Tour
- Visit the Polynesian Cultural Center to see reenactments of island dance and watch a canoe pageant
- Relax as you stroll through Walmea Valley’s 35 botanical gardens or visit the Dole Plantation to take the Pineapple Express train and try the 2.5 miles of trails in the Maze
o Day 3 – A Little History and An Evening Luau
-Visit Pearl Harbor and see three memorable attractions:
-Take the USS Arizona Memorial audio tour that honors the crewmen killed in the first World War II attack, the most visited attraction in Oahu
-See the USS Bowfin, one of the only surviving submarines from the War
-Finish with the USS Battleship Missouri where Japan surrendered
-Finish the day with a truly Hawaiian experience at Germaine’s Luau
For this specific itinerary, the Go O’ahu Card would save you 32%, or $170.62, off retail value. Here is the pricing break down for one adult:
- One day: $59.99
- Two day: $94.99
- Three day: $181.99
- Five day: $219.99
- Seven day: $259.99
If you visit the Go O’ahu Card’s website soon, they are currently running a sale. As of now, select cards are 10% off. So, if you’re spending your honeymoon in O’ahu or holding your destination wedding there, why not plan ahead and save money on those activities you were going to do anyways?
