Destination Wedding Rome: The Beginnings of an Italian Voyage

There’s no place like home, but for Dominick and Brittany, Italy was the next best thing. The couple had always planned to honeymoon in Italy and Sicily and decided to wrap their wedding up in the festivities. They also had a sentimental reason for saying Ciao to Italia: the groom’s mother who passed away from cancer had a life-long dream to go to Italy, but unfortunately didn’t get the opportunity. Holding their wedding in Rome was a way for Dominick and Brittany to make his mother a part of the day and pay respect to her memory.
The couple chose Rome out of all Italian cities because of its convenience for guests and countless beautiful backdrops. Twelve lucky loved ones attended the couple’s ceremony and were able to enjoy Rome in the days leading up to the wedding. The couple and their guests all stayed at Hotel Golden in the heart of the city. For Brittany and Dominick, help from the locals was key.

“Don’t be too shy to ask your photographer, hotel, priest or any other vendor for help,” says Brittany. “For example, the priest led me to the florist and the hotel staff led me to the restaurant we used for our dinner after the wedding.”
Of all the vendors the couple worked with, they feel their photographer was the most instrumental. “You will have those pictures forever and make sure someone will capture exactly how you are as a couple,” recalls the bride. “Another important aspect is the photographer should live by or be from your destination since they will know the details like lighting and the best sites for photographs.”
Kudos to this adorable couple for going after their dreams and creating a very Italian start to their lives together!
