Texas natives Keith and Jessica met in the most unlikely of places – Denmark! While studying abroad, they not only furthered their education, but found true love. While they now reside in Dallas, Texas, the couple has also lived in San Francisco, California. Described as their “favorite U.S. city,” this couple knew an intimate destination wedding in the city by the bay was perfect.
Jessica and Keith couldn’t be happier with how their wedding turned out, but warn couples against procrastination. “I waited until the last minute to do the bulk of my planning,” says Jessica. “Give yourself plenty of focused time to book the vendors. The most time-consuming part was doing my research on the vendors, looking at their websites and reading reviews. You want to make sure you find vendors which you ‘click’ with.”
Luckily this bride had one vendor she knew beyond a doubt she could count on – her mother! Jessica’s mom hand-made both her dress and shoes. They also worked together to personalize the destination wedding of Jessica’s dreams. “My mom and I did all the bouquets, centerpieces, favors and decorations for the tables,” recalls the bride. “Our ceremony site was so breathtaking it really didn’t need a whole lot and our caterer did a great job with the presentation of the food and that was décor within itself.”
Since the couple went out of their way to say “I do” in San Francisco, they wanted to make sure the city was the star. Thus the couple chose to get married overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and tried their best to make sure their guests got a good taste of the city. “We rented a San Francisco trolley to get people from the ceremony to the reception site and took a scenic tour through Presidio,” says Jessica “We mostly did this because so many of our guests had never been to San Francisco and it was a neat experience for them.”
The couple wanted more than just a weekend with their guests, so they also planned an optional trip to Sonoma wine country the days after the wedding. Many of their guests joined them and it continued to ensure that the couple had an intimate wedding. A close-knit group was the couple’s top priority and so a destination wedding was the perfect choice!
