Marriage is different for everyone – some feel the need to get hitched ASAP and for others, their love for each other is symbolic enough. For Mike and Cynthia, the latter was true until last year. With their relationship as strong as ever, the couple of 25 years finally decided to put it in writing. Their chosen destination: the Grand Canyon. It’s hard to think of a more dramatic backdrop for exchanging vows!
The groom has family in northern Arizona and the couple thought the natural wonder would be a strong draw for their guests and another great way to bring everyone together. The planning couldn’t have gone more smoothly thanks to their wedding planner with Sedona Luxury Weddings and a cooperative guest list. Many of the attendees got together to arrange car pools and group transportation which really took pressure off of the bride and groom.
Every couple personalizes their wedding in a different way and Mike and Cynthia are no exception. For their nuptials, the couple created their own drink recipes for the reception and had a custom-brewed beer thanks to a brother-in-law. There’s no doubt that after 25 years together, this was an event full of love, laughter and fond memories.
A top priority for Cynthia and Mike was to not take themselves too seriously and they have some last words of advice for other couples considering a destination wedding. “Make it about you, but share [the wedding] with your close friends and family. Our guests really enjoyed the special venue that we chose. Also, don’t be afraid to laugh – we had jokes built into the ceremony.”
