Nicole and Jeff made a lot of bold decisions when planning their destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. However, as they say, sometimes you have to bet big to win big. This couple did exactly that and what resulted was a beautiful wedding which exceeded all the couple’s expectations. “We decided on Cabo because most of our guests would be traveling from California and that meant a short and less expensive flight,” recalls Nicole. “Neither of us had ever been to Cabo before and we actually never went until the week of our wedding.”

Since the couple had never been to Cabo before and didn’t have the budget to visit beforehand, there was definitely some stress involved in the planning process. “I really had to trust what I was seeing online was what I wanted and I had to put my trust in a lot of people,” says the bride. “I decided on Casa Dorada Resort after a lot of research. I fell in love with the location through their website. It was beautiful and intimate, but was also right in downtown Cabo so that our guests could walk anywhere they wanted.”

Jeff and Nicole ended up seeking help in the form of a wedding planner and travel agency. Their wedding planner was able to visit with vendors in person and get local recommendations. Moraga Travel was also instrumental in the couple being able to rest easy come W-day. “They did the negotiating of rates with our hotel and got our guests discounts on flights,” says Nicole. “They handled all the transfers to and from the airport to the hotel and kept me updated on which of my guests had booked. I made sure to provide all of my guests with the travel agency’s information and they handled everything.”

While the couple definitely had unique issues because they had never been to their destination before, they found simple ways to solve problems and stuck by their destination wedding vision. “We had a week to spend with most of our guests…it was great because we had people coming into town all week and a lot of our guests got to know each other before our wedding day,” says the couple. “We highly recommend a destination wedding, we would not have had it any other way.”
