Destination Wedding Mexico: No-Fuss Nuptials

The great thing about a destination wedding is there are no widely accepted traditions; your guests won’t come to the event with a preconceived notion of what your wedding will be like. Consequently, you can make your destination wedding as lavish or simple as you want. This was perfect for Kim and Dustin as they wanted a simple, no-fuss affair. It also helped them limit their guest list. While they missed folks from home, a destination wedding in Mexico allowed them to keep their wedding small and intimate.

There were multiple factors which led the couple to decide on Mexico as their chosen tropical destination. “We wanted our friends and family to be able to afford travel to our wedding, so we worked really hard at making it as affordable as possible,” recalls the couple. “Mexico was a standout location to us, as the weather is beautiful, it’s easy to get to and was reasonably priced.” There were a few guests concerned about safety traveling to Mexico, but the couple encouraged them to do research on the Riviera Maya area and guests were quickly reassured.

In order to maintain strict control of their budget, this wedding was filled with DIY projects. Kim and Dustin let the resort handle much of the weekend’s logistics and travel arrangements, but largely decorated themselves. The bride has experience in event planning, so knew she could execute her vision while staying on budget. Thanks to a lot of hard work and dedication by the couple, their dream destination wedding vision became a reality.
