Today’s bride grew up in sunny Hawaii and couldn’t see herself getting hitched anywhere else. Luckily, her hubby-to-be was on board and what resulted was a beautiful beachside affair. The Denver-area couple wanted the laidback atmosphere and beautiful surroundings of the island of O’ahu.

“Hawaii is a special place for both of us because it is where we got engaged,” recalls Alex. “We wanted to share [O’ahu] with our friends and family throughout the U.S. It was so awesome to have family and friends throughout different periods of our lives come together for this occasion. They were able to see why we love Hawaii so much and were able to appreciate it as we do.”

The couple didn’t want to get married or stay at a hotel, so they tried to achieve as “homey” a feel as possible. “…we chose a place that felt like a home,” says Alex. “When I entered the Oceanfront Oasis the beachfront view was breathtaking. We planned ahead and had beachfront rental homes arranged for the week prior to the wedding for our immediate families visiting from out of town and for the bridal party.”

There’s no doubt the wedding was worth the trip. The couple’s mothers hosted multiple parties for all the guests and the ladies enjoyed bridal tea while the men went deep sea fishing. The couple also encouraged all the guests to rent cars so they could really see everything O’ahu has to offer. The wedding party spent the days leading up to the wedding hiking, surfing and checking out local restaurants.

There’s no question the couple made the right decision to travel to the sunny beaches of Hawaii. “One of the benefits of having a destination wedding is we knew those who really wanted to come to the wedding to support us would be there,” recalls the couple. “We were so pleasantly surprised by how many friends and family made the trip. Having it in Hawaii made it fun for everyone.”
