When it comes down to planning a destination wedding, one doesn't have to travel far to find a dream location. Amanda and Zuri decided to tie the knot in their home-state of Florida, but decided they wanted to venture to a location more accessible for their friends and family. The couple decided on a Southern plantation-style wedding, so it made sense to find a venue which fit their theme.

"When I came across this 1920s 'Old Florida' plantation-style home on Lake Dora, I knew it was perfect," says Amanda. "This particular home had set vacant for many years and had just been taken over by Grand Rental within the last year, so they were new to hosting events." Having an eye for detail, the bride was able to altar the landscape in order to coincide with the Southern plantation style.

Although most of their wedding vendors were located in Orlando, Florida, the couple was able to work around the hour-drive to the venue and built a beautiful Southern-style wedding. The bride got the majority of her inspiration from wedding magazines and from Pinterest which was the basis for most of her D.I.Y. projects.

"Everything from my invitations to programs, menus, ribbon wands, escort cards, candy bar, ceremony backdrop and all the little details you see, [either] came out of my head or was inspired by Pinterest," says Amanda. With the help of her grandma, little jars and accessories were collected over a period of time which became the center pieces for the tables.

In the end, the couple says their destination wedding was in the same price range as a traditional wedding would have been. Amanda says she learned to be patient with vendors because they are busy by nature and in the end everything came together exactly the way she had imagined. She says, "You can worry about every detail in the planning process, but on the day of, anything that goes wrong won’t even matter because it truly is the happiest day of your life, so enjoy it."
