Whether abroad for your destination wedding or honeymoon, you and your beloved are going to want to have lots of local adventures. However, a downside to traveling internationally is that you can’t ask Siri or Google to find you a great local restaurant or museum because of expensive international rates. I travel internationally quite regularly and always miss having my phone at my fingertips to quickly find my way around town or locate the latest and greatest in foreign fare. Thankfully, Stay.com recently launched an app which allows you to do all of the above – without an internet connection!
The new collaborative travel app by Stay.com
allows you to create a virtual “city in your pocket” by downloading your own guides and enjoying them offline – saving you big bucks on international data charges. Combine advice from Stay.com, travel experts, other travelers and your personal preferences to create a map and itinerary perfect for your stay abroad. You can download guides and maps for 116 cities on your smart phone which allows you to discover and add new places to your personal guide even without an internet connection!
Also, any addition to your personal travel guide will be automatically synced to your account once you’re back on a Wi-Fi connection, keeping your friends and family up-to-date. Best of all, Stay.com has partnered with some of your favorite travel sites in order to integrate all your information in one downloadable map and guide. For example, integration with Google Places allows users to map millions of local venues around the World including museums, parks, stores and hidden gems. Content from TripAdvisor and TimeOut delivers up-to-date info on local restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues.
Facebook is also integrated into Stay.com’s app and allows you to personalize your guide by requesting suggestions from friends, inviting fellow travelers to collaborate on your guide and accessing all Facebook friend check-ins. Once your guide is complete and you’re ready to hit the road, the downloadable, vector-based maps take up minimal space on your smart phone or device. With cutting-edge technology, you can pan and zoom easily without having to wait for load times. Your maps will always be available offline and with GPS functionality, you can find your way around town and discover all the best local attractions.
In case you were on the fence, Stay.com was named one of TIME Magazine’s
“Top 50 Websites” in 2010. To download your own personal city map straight to your phone or begin building a virtual itinerary, visit Stay.com
, Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
