Destination Wedding Stationery: Trends for 2012 & BeyondWords by Courtney Kellar
Photos courtesy of Bella Figura Here at Destination I Do, we’re tremendous fans of using stationery to set the tone for your destination wedding. The exciting thing is that this medium is constantly changing and evolving based on the trends within the bridal industry. The talented folks over at Bella Figura have weighed-in on what was hot in 2012 and what will continue to be trendy and tasteful in 2013.
In July we introduced 9 new wedding designs as part of our mid-year release, two of which were inspired by on-trend brides through a Pinterest contest (A Bientot and Gilded Romance). Both of these designs feature foil stamping, which has been wildly popular since we introduced it earlier this year for the 2012 wedding season (and a trend we predict will continue to go strong through 2013 and beyond!)! If you’re going for a glamorous look, metallic shades of gold, silver and copper will add the perfect touch of elegance to any invitation. Not sure you want to have foil printed on your invitations? Foil edging is a great way to bring in another color and add a little bit of shimmer – we love seeing a color like fuchsia shine on the edge of a classic black and white invitation for a fun, modern touch.
Pastel shades are making their way back into weddings as well. Think pretty pinks, silky blues, light greens and pale peaches to set a soft and sophisticated mood. Taupes, tans and grays never go out of style and have started showing up a lot more this year. These neutrals look especially lovely when paired with metallics and pastels! Designs like Damask, Istanbul Lace, La Salle, and True Vintage show these soft color pairings perfectly.
One of the 2012 trends we love the most has got to be (hands-down) hand calligraphy accents. Invitations like Simple Charms (featuring Paisley, one of our newest calligraphy hands by Debi Zeinert) and Loretta Formal that feature fancy flourishes and ornate curves have a timeless, romantic look. We especially love when a couple works with their calligrapher to have their envelopes addressed in the same style as their invitations – it’s the perfect finishing touch!
