Getting married on the beach is debatably one of the most romantic wedding locations on Earth. The sand crunching beneath your feet, the sea breeze wafting in the air, the calming sound of waves crashing as they break upon the shore, honestly, what could be a more perfect location to hold a wedding? For the marriage of Brandon and Peggy, it was these things that drew the couple to saying their I do’s on the shores of Amelia Island, in sunny Florida.

“I’ve always wanted to get married on the beach, but I also wanted an experience that embodied both our personalities and passions,” said the bride about their ceremony. Peggy and Brandon hadn’t always planned on having a wedding in Florida, in fact they originally planned on having their destination wedding abroad. They vetoed this idea so that more of their friends and family would be able to attend their special day.

Peggy and Brandon chose to hold their nuptials at the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island after searching on the internet for a place to hold their wedding. After visiting the island, the couple was sold. “I was captivated by the unique charm of the town and the hospitality at the resort,” Peggy said of their decision. For many, putting together a destination wedding can be a stressful endeavor, but with support of family, friends, and reliable wedding planners, this couple’s wedding went without a hitch.

For their wedding Peggy and Brandon went to great lengths to add personal touches to their ceremony. “We came up with a ‘message in a bottle’ theme where my guests wrote a message on embossed paper, rolled up the paper, and dropped it into a big bottle,” said the bride. Peggy and Brandon found their inspiration by “looking at photos of other people’s destination weddings- we’d see an idea we liked and then tweaked it to fit both the location and personalities,” said Peggy. “Our goal was to keep it simple, but elegant.”

And elegant it was. The wedding of Peggy and Brandon was a chic, visually pleasing affair, not to mention a great time for their guests. Brandon and Peggy provided transportation to the ceremony by trolley, a unique and memorable way of getting around. Guests were also given parasails to block the strong Florida sun.

As for advice, Peggy encourages other brides and grooms to be to get as much help with planning as possible, while still remaining true to their original vision. She also stresses the need for a videographer or photographer to be present at all times to capture all of the important moments of the wedding.
