5 Tips for Your Wedding Design

As a luxury event planner, one of the things I specialize in most for my clients is creating memorable event designs that are all about the details! If you have a vision in mind for your wedding day, keep in mind these 5 tips to bring your design to life with success!

Start with a general theme, or at least a color palette!

It’s easier to create a cohesive design when you pick a central concept to start. Whether that’s a black and white color palette or a beach-chic theme, give yourself somewhere to start from so that you have something to guide you when choosing things like florals, rentals, and stationery!

Don’t be afraid to be subtle at times.

Sometimes the smallest details can make the biggest difference. A watercolor seashell motif on your invitations can tie your whole beach theme together, or colorful glassware at your reception can bring your color palette to everyone’s attention!

Pick at least one major moment.

When you’re feeling passionate and excited about a design, you might as well go big or go home! Choose at least one moment to really showcase your design. This could be your escort display, a photo backdrop, a custom-designed dancefloor, a floral installation…the possibilities are endless!

Don’t overlook the “extras.”

It’s easy to think of the “obvious” components when creating your design – your stationery, your florals, your place settings, your furniture rentals. But don’t forget the other ways you’re able to tie a look together! Think lighting, flooring, chairs, draping, napkins…there are so many different things you can incorporate into your wedding day that can elevate your design.

Grab inspiration anywhere you can!

We love a good Pinterest search party to find inspiration for our designs, but there are also SO many other ways to find ideas for your design. A cute local coffee shop with a fun patterned tile on the floor might inspire your dance floor, a Friday night at home watching your favorite rom-com might lead to the idea to use movie quotes for an epic escort display moment, and browsing through your closet to find your favorite sweater might spark an idea for a textured linen to display at your reception. Keep your eyes peeled with your general theme or vision in mind, and you never know what might end up getting incorporated into your final design!
