Real Destination Wedding: ItalyWords by Alicia Clark

The thing about destination weddings which a lot of people tend to forget, is that a destination is not only about walking down the aisle and exchanging rings, it’s about having a vacation too! It was with this mindset that Kelly and Clint travelled 6,250 miles with their friends and family to say their “I do’s” in breathtaking Cortona, Italy.
After selecting Italy as their wedding location, the next challenge for the couple was to find a villa that would fit in their budget, and accommodate all of their guests comfortably. While browsing the web, they came upon Villa Baroncino, the place that turned out to be just perfect for all of their wedding needs. “Villa Baroncino stood out to us from the beginning because it met the basic requirements of location, price, size, and availability,” said the couple.
When it came to organizing flight arrangements, Kelly and Clint tried to make things as simple as possible. By booking flights with family and friends as a group, the entire wedding party was able to arrive at the Villa together, thereby jump-starting their weeklong Italian vacation.
Surprisingly, Kelly and Clint say that they spent less money on their destination wedding than they might have with a local wedding. “We bought all of the wedding flowers from a local wholesaler once we got to Italy,” said the bride. “[We] assembled the bouquets, boutonnieres, and table arrangements ourselves, we couldn’t have been happier with the way everything turned out!” For the ceremony, both the bride and her bridesmaids did their own hair and makeup, which cut down on the cost significantly.
Kelly and Clint look back on their wedding experience fondly. By getting lots of support from their guests and their planning assistants abroad, creating their picture-perfect wedding was a breeze.
The couple encourages other destination wedding-seekers to hire a photographer so that all of their happy memories can be recorded for life. Kelly and Clint hope to remind couples to go with the flow and enjoy the happiest day of their life to its fullest potential.
