A small, intimate wedding had always been the dream for Rebecca and Zach, but finding a way to do this was what stumped them until they visited Zion National Park. Once they visited, they knew it was a special place.

“We felt a lot of peace on the canyon floor and spent a lot of time during our first trip out there discussing our future together and what it would look like,” the couple said.

“We even joked about eloping then and there and coming home married.”

So it was only natural that Rebecca and Zach settled on the decision to be married there.

Having a destination wedding made it possible for the couple to have a shorter guest list and to spend a larger amount of time with their loved ones who attended.

Transportation to the wedding location was a bit tricky, but with careful planning, a majority of the guests were able to fly out at the same time and to be picked up in a van as coordinated by the couple.

Rebecca and Zach left most of the accommodation planning up to their guests so they could make decisions which fit their budgets and vacation plans best.

Coordinating wedding details was relatively easy wit the help of GT at Zion Party Rentals, a company which the couple relied heavily on during the planning process.

“Even thought he’s (GT) not a true-blue wedding planner, he knew exactly who would provide the best wedding experience possible,” the couple said of their extremely helpful local planner. “He helped us pick the caterer, the cake, the flowers, everything.”

While it was a bother not being able to try all of the food and see everything with their own eyes, the couple says having a local they trusted at their destination was crucial to pulling off the perfect wedding.

As for DIY projects, the couple kept it simple with welcome bags for the guests and name tags for both the bags and the seating assignments.

Every couple got a welcome bag containing the intenierary for the weekend, a welcome note, a monogrammed pashmina for the women, a customized t-shirt for the men, two kleen canteen water bottles, sunscreen, antacids, pain relievers, lip balm and trail snacks. Everything you could possible need for hiking around Zion National Park!

For Rebecca and Zach, a destination wedding could not have been a better decision.

“A destination wedding afforded us the ability to throw the wedding that we both envisioned, as well as giving our guests a trip they will never forget,” the couple said.
