Choosing a destination wedding in a Spanish speaking country was a natural fit for Solomon and Tiffany who met on a mission trip in Bolivia. La Antigua, Guatemala is a picturesque and historical town which allowed the couple much more financial freedom to create their dream wedding.

Planning a destination wedding was quite simple for Solomon and Tiffany. It was easy for them to coordinate photographers and find vendors through Etsy. However, they attribute most of their help to their wedding planner who had to find an alternate venue last minute. “We gave the team our ideas of things we liked and our wedding colors. Our planner handled it from there, which was a great way to give ourselves some element of surprise that day!” says the bride.

Solomon and Tiffany’s planning team also helped greatly when it came to accommodations. They arranged ground transportation and were able to get discounted rates on hotels for their wedding guests.

The couple believes their wedding would have been much different had it been in their hometown. “We think our wedding would have been extremely simple and limited,” explains Tiffany.

A destination wedding was clearly the right choice for this couple and it allowed for many unexpected surprises which enhanced the excitement of the weekend. For example, the volcanic explosion three weeks prior that offered an excellent background of spewing residue for wedding party photo opps!

Solomon and Tiffany advise anyone else interested in a destination wedding to stay calm, for everything will work out. When they were surprised with a downpour of rain on their partially uncovered venue, they calmly embraced it. “Did it ruin the wedding? Absolutely not, we continued to laugh and dance all night…we always look back and think of how fun that was!”
