Amore in Italy

Living in Bologna, Italy, Silvia and Giovanni knew they wanted to honor their rich Italian culture on their wedding day. According to tradition, couples get married in the bride’s hometown, wherever she may be from. Silvia is from a small, yet magical city in the middle of Italy. The couple had no doubts the charming, ancient town of Ascoli Piceno would be the perfect place to host their destination wedding.

“Our parents and friends reacted in a very enthusiastic way! We had many guests from different parts of the world, European and overseas, and they used this occasion to extend their cultural trip through Italy,” Giovanni explains. Because so many guests came from different countries, the couple arranged transportation by bus and car once the guests arrived in Italy.
Silvia and Giovanni chose to incorporate DIY elements into their entire wedding. From the invitations and reception menus to the guest gifts and decorations, the couple wanted to put an incredibly personal touch on their day. The couple worked with the resources they had to enhance the elegance of their stunning setting.
Although the couple believes they may have spent less money had they had their wedding at home due to travel logistics for guests, they wouldn’t have had their wedding any other way. Without a destination wedding in Ascoli Piceno, their day would have lost some of its magic and meaning solely because the couple wouldn't have been able to honor their culture and celebrate their tradition.
“Organizing a destination wedding is not as complicated or impossible as you may think. Just try it!” urges Giovanni to other couples considering a destination wedding. Silvia and Giovanni were able to get all the planning done using just their weekends, which took away excess stress. Above all, “Focus on the wedding atmosphere you love and want to reach.”
