Married In MauiWords by Taylor Wilson

As a young girl living in Hawaii for a brief amount of time, Joy knew she wanted to have her fairytale wedding on the magical island when she grew up. “The beach has always been my favorite place to be so I knew when I got married in Hawaii someday, I would have to include the ocean in some way,” says the bride.
Joy and her soon-to-be husband Phil both decided Maui would be the best location in Hawaii for their destination wedding, given its convenience and the plethora of vendors they would have to choose from. Although the couple felt a bit uneasy at first planning a wedding over the phone and online, the couple’s wedding planner ended up being a huge help, taking care of all the major details.
Because of Maui’s natural beauty, the couple chose to keep their floral arrangements to a minimum. This allowed the couple to save on decorations and focus more on their day rather than the aesthetics of the venue, as it was already naturally breathtaking.
Joy and Phil’s guest list was incredibly intimate and small. Instead of having all their friends and family fly out to Hawaii, they chose to host a party at home to celebrate their nuptials with everyone when they returned. The guests that did make he trip to Maui all flew together for the most part and the whole wedding party stayed in a beach house together for the trip, which was a blast!
Joy and Phil were so happy they chose to follow their hearts and host the destination wedding Joy had always dreamed of as a little girl. For other couples planning their wedding, Joy reminds them, “Don’t get stressed out about all the little details. There are enough things to worry about and if you can get a wedding coordinator, I highly recommend it. Enjoy every minute of it, because it’s over so fast!Photographer: Paris Mountain Photography, Wedding Planner: Cherise Shulman with The perfect Wedding, Ceremony/Reception Site: Gannon’s Restaurant, Gown Designer: Adelaide by Maggie Sottero
