A Ceremony In The Sun

When Aaron popped the question and Jaleesa said yes, the couple decided a destination wedding would be the perfect way to celebrate their nuptials. With all of Jaleesa’s family in the Netherlands, they would have to travel anyway so a ceremony in a tropical location was a unique way to get everyone excited for the big day.

Aaron and Jaleesa also love adventure, which was a huge selling point for Kauai. The couple had been there before and simply fallen in love with the island. Also, with plenty of activities like surfing, snorkeling and hiking, they knew the trip wouldn't be lacking excitement.
Planning a destination wedding, just like any other wedding, takes a lot of work but with the help of a local wedding planner, the couple’s dream wedding fell together so much easier than had they attempted it themselves. Overall, they believe they spent more money, although most of the cost was from their contribution to a place for all their friends and family to stay together. “It was worth the extra expense in our eyes. Celebrating our wedding with the people we love was most important to us. Our wedding was basically a two week celebration of family and love,” explains Aaron.
Because the couple celebrated their wedding for two weeks on the beautiful island of Kauai, they did not think a honeymoon would be necessary, which is one thing they do regret. “We didn't think we needed to honeymoon after a long family vacation. The wedding took place at the end of the trip and we just had not expected it to be so emotional. Looking back, we should have added a few days to be together and unwind. But we are not complaining!” says the groom.
