When Roxanne responded to Mike’s message on match.com, she had no idea she would soon fall in love with such a jokester. After all, Mike constantly reminds her she was the first and only person to reply to the many emails he sent out. “He sure knows how to make a girl feel special!” Roxanne remarks. However, it was clearly the perfect match because it led to a stunning destination wedding in Kauai, Hawaii.

Hosting a destination wedding was the ideal way to celebrate the couple’s love for travel. They also were drawn to the fact that a destination wedding meant spending quality time with friends and family in a new environment. 94 of their loved ones joined the couple in saying “I do” on this tropical island for a week they would never forget, filled with plenty of activities and relaxation.

With the ceremony held at St. Raphael’s Church, the oldest Catholic church on the island, the experience was quaint, charming and unforgettable. “The ceremony was short and sweet, especially since Mike shed a couple tears,” recalls Roxanne. The picturesque ceremony venue was paired with a rustic reception outdoors, creating an element of laid-back luxury.

Everything about the reception was beautiful. The couple was apprehensive in hosting their reception in the meadow of the Botanical Garden but it came together more stunningly than they ever could have expected. “While there were many memorable moments throughout the day, we both agree that the first sight of the tented reception area was our favorite.  It validated all the months of stressful planning, especially since we had no idea what the final setup, details, and actual location would look like,” says the bride.

Roxanne and Mike strongly suggest that other brides and grooms are both actively involved in the planning process together. “Dividing a list of tasks helps reduce the stress of planning,” Roxanne advises. Also, it is important to do what makes you happy as a couple. “It is probably the only time where a reasonable level of selfishness is accepted.” Afterall, it is your day!
