Gregory and Caitlin enjoyed the rustic charm and romance of their destination wedding on a quaint farm in Pennsylvania.
“We really wanted our wedding to feel like a weekend getaway for our guests, but we did not want for it to be too far away that guests couldn't afford it,” says the bride. “So, we decided to have it at a serene farm just across from a beautiful, private lake in northern Pennsylvania.”
“We also fell in love with the fact that we could enjoy the quiet farm, as well as the gorgeous lake that was available to us. It really made it feel more like a vacation for guests.”
The bride works in the design field, so the couple was able to create and execute everything they had envisioned for their perfect day. “…I would have to say my entire wedding was one big DIY project,” says Caitlin. “Everything from the invitations, to vases, drinks, signage, and the entire setup of the ceremony and reception was all done by my husband and myself, with some help from family and friends a few days before. Looking back, I’m so happy I decided to take on so many projects.”
“I knew from the start I wanted a romantic, laid-back look and I wanted a lot of flowers,” says the bride. “A large part of the charm and uniqueness of our wedding was that it really felt like a weekend getaway. The location was just so relaxing and beautiful, I don't think that we could have replicated it where we live.” In the end, the couple had the perfect Pennsylvania wedding they had always dreamed of.
The bride’s advice: “You’re going to miss it when it’s over. I know I do! Also, when your special day comes - something is bound to go awry, but you have to keep in mind that this is a day to celebrate you and the person you are choosing to spend the rest of your life with. Everything else is inconsequential.”
