For Dylan and Lucy, hosting a Los Cabos destination wedding provided the opportunity to enjoy time away from the hustle and bustle of life in Los Angeles and spend quality time with friends and family. Although their reasons for hosting a destination wedding were pretty standard, their event would be anything but run-of-the-mill.

“We ultimately chose Los Cabos because it’s an easy flight from Los Angeles where we lived at the time and had heard amazing things about the area,” the couple says.

When the couple presented the idea of getting married in Mexico to their guests, everyone was pumped to finally put a vacation on the calendar. Of course, with COVID-19 restrictions, the couple was wary of the planning challenges that might accompany holding a wedding abroad. Luckily, Dylan and Lucy had an excellent team of vendors to help them through it, including their chosen venue, Montage Los Cabos.

“We ran into plenty of issues with the size, timing, and particulars of the wedding,” says Lucy, “but the hotel could not have been more accommodating to the constant changes that occurred.”

To avoid any miscommunication, the couple remained in constant contact with their vendors through Whatsapp. A good friend of Dylan and Lucy’s who works in the travel industry helped them plan several trips to the area pre-wedding (as recommended by their planner, Cristina Cabrera of Vivid Occasions.)

The couple’s whole goal for their Los Cabos celebration: make it as enjoyable as possible for guests. Who wouldn’t enjoy some fun in the Mexican sun and a stay at a luxurious hotel?

“Fortunately, almost all of our guests stayed at the Montage, so people were able to enjoy the resort during the day,” the couple says.

On a clear-skied July day, Dylan and Lucy pledged forever in front of the majestic Pacific ocean. A storybook arch adorned shades of pink florals framed the couple’s first kiss as husband and wife. The reception occurred just strides from the ceremony location with tables styled in boho-patterned linens, intricate red and white dishware, and brightly colored flower arrangements.

All-in-all, the couple’s decision to wed in Los Cabos majorly paid off.

“In our situation, being away from home ultimately made it [our wedding] a more relaxed environment.”
