Charming Cancun
By Gerd Corrigan

When I think of Cancun, “crazy spring break” is usually the first thing that pops into mind. But if you take a 30-minute drive south of Cancun you end up someplace quite different - it’s an exotic and a very pleasant surprise.

Right off the plane someone asked me “Hello lady, can I help you?” “How are you Lady?” “Yes Lady, Silversands this way Lady”. This was the first time in my life I’ve been genuinely called a lady! I have to admit, I liked it.

The trip from the airport to Secrets Silversands Resort went fine until we ended up on a narrow and bumpy dirt road and I started wondering what I had gotten myself into. But as we turned into the resort I could not stop myself from smiling. This was nice! And, not only was the resort beautiful, but the employees continued the friendliness and warmth which had met me at the airport.

Did I mention that the resort is brand new? With a state-of-the-art modern, trendy and romantic interior, the white curtains playfully dancing in the soothing sea-breeze gave me the sensation of stepping into a very private, peaceful and calming world.

Cancun is quite humid, but it is also surrounded by warm pleasant waters that kick up a constant gentle breeze. Between the panoramic view and balmy weather, a beach wedding is definitely something to consider here.

With plenty of beautiful pools, 5 different restaurants, live entertainment every night, a beautiful spa and a lovely beach, you may not feel like going anywhere else. You can stay all day long watching and listening to the ocean, hang out at the beach, go snorkeling or scuba diving. But, if you should feel like seeing something besides this wonderfully romantic resort, there is plenty to choose from. Cancun has excellent conditions for sailing and windsurfing not to mention the incredible Tulum ruins are only a 30-minute drive away.

Secrets Maroma Beach Resort, is as nice and pleasant as Silversands. The interior is a bit different, more geometric and artistic and the resort seems a bit larger. There is a beautiful conference room that can seat a 450-person banquet. But the most amazing part about this place is the jaw-dropping beach! This is not any beach… this is Maroma Beach, voted by Travel Channel to be “the best beach in the world 4 years in a row. It is also on their “most romantic beaches in the world” list. Maroma Beach is worth the trip by itself as it feels like you’ve been let in on a secret. One activity no destination wedding or honeymoon couple should miss is a couple’s massage on Maroma. With the background music of calm ocean surf and the soft breeze moving smoothly over your body while your betrothed is laying next to you will ensure the best massage you’ve ever had!

Both Silversands and Maroma are wonderfully romantic “all inclusive” resorts that your destination wedding guests would be delighted to visit. Whether you are staying at Silversands or Maroma you will be experiencing genuine hospitality where they do their best to make all your dreams and wishes come true.
