"Crazy Rich Asians" Wedding Trends
Words by Inspired By ThisPhotos courtesy of Warner Bros.
When we heard that the bestselling novel “Crazy Rich Asians” was being made into a blockbuster film, our mind went straight to the wedding! In the book, it’s described as being over-the-top and gorgeous in every way. We couldn’t wait to see how the production team and designers would translate it IRL! After seeing the movie, we have four big trend predictions that we think will take the wedding industry by storm in the coming months.

1. Gold Wedding Dresses
You heard it here first! While blush has had its moment, we think gold will be back in a big way after this movie! Araminta’s wedding dress had thousands of gold beads sewn into the bodice and we think brides are going to embrace this all-out glamorous look with gold detailing, prints, metallic lace and beading.
2. Bringing the Outdoors In
Outdoor weddings have been all the rage for a long time now, but we predict that brides will move back to ornate indoor venues and opt to “bring the outdoors in” with lush florals and details! The flooded aisle would be hard to recreate at a real wedding, but we love the greenery-lined aisle and LED lights that created a true secret garden feel.
3. Jewel Tone Color Schemes
It’s time to say goodbye to pastel! The reception in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ reminded us how much we LOVE saturated color palettes and we think jewel tones are going to take over the wedding industry in the next few years! You can’t go wrong with traditional red and gold.
4. Detailed Chiffon Bridesmaid Dresses
While Rachel wasn’t technically a bridesmaid, her Marchesa dress is everything we’ve ever wanted in an elevated bridesmaid gown! From the pale blue hue to the gathered chiffon detailing, would this not be such a statement walking down the aisle?
Don’t miss all of the stunning details for yourself – "Crazy Rich Asians" is in theaters on August 15!
