Lindley and Tyler love to travel and crave the beach, so a destination wedding was the perfect fit for them. Add-in the advice Lindley got from several other brides, and there was no other option in this couple’s minds, “So many brides had told me ‘The day goes by so fast,’ or ‘I didn’t have time to eat or enjoy myself because I was trying to talk to everyone.’ I didn’t want to have that experience.” Before moving forward with their dream, there was just one thing the couple needed to do. “Before we decided on a destination wedding we asked my parents and my husband’s parents,” says Lindley. “We wanted everyone to be there, but if our parents couldn’t come, that was a deal breaker.”
Thankfully, the couple’s parents were excited and on board for a lovely wedding away in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. Lindley and Tyler knew they wanted a unique experience and thus opted for a venue outside of the traditional all-inclusive resort. “We wanted a private and unique location…our fabulous wedding planner looked for venues with that in mind and found the beautiful Villa Punto de Vista,” says the bride. “The only real ‘issue’ with the [venue] was that we had to find all of the vendors separately because nothing was included. Fortunately for us, Melissa at Stylish Occasions took care of everything.”
Making the most of their home-away-from-home, the couple stayed with their parents and wedding party at the villa, while guests stayed in surrounding hotels which had been recommended by the villa staff. Come W-day, things went off without a hitch and this relaxed bride got exactly the beach wedding she had always envisioned. The couple has no doubts about their decision to get married away and believe an at-home wedding would not have fit their personalities and would have been more stressful in the end.
Lindley has some last bits of advice for other brides contemplating or planning a destination wedding: “I would say to pick three things that are most important to you on your wedding day and focus on those things. All the other details will fall into place. For me, it was getting great pictures, saying my vows on the beach and having a really fun party. Also, you’ll never regret spending the money to hire a planner. Lastly, your wedding is all about you and your future husband. Don’t let everyone else’s opinions and unwanted advice get in the way of you having exactly what you want on [your wedding] day.”
