Marissa and Timothy knew they wanted a fun wedding away, and after finding out they were expecting their first child, they had even more reason to celebrate! “We love beach destinations and when we found out we were expecting…we wanted to share this moment in a memorable location.” The couple wanted to choose a destination which would be convenient for their guests and ultimately decided on Naples, Florida.
While some couples might find picking an unknown destination and hotel stressful, Marissa and Timothy embraced the process and had fun throughout the planning. “We thought [planning a destination wedding] was easy and exciting at the same time because we had never been to Naples or this Ritz-Carlton before,” says the couple.
Marissa and Timothy communicated with their venue and vendors via email and Facetime. In the end, everything came together perfectly and these laidback newlyweds credit their photographer and coordinator with the Ritz-Carlton for their help. The couple had a traditional, beautiful wedding full of cream hydrangeas and pink roses.
Not so traditional was the surprise these two had in store for their guests at the end of the ceremony. “We incorporated our baby’s gender reveal at the end of our ceremony,” says Marissa. “We filled a box with blue balloons and had the box wrapped with ribbon to reveal the baby’s gender.” Based on their guests’ reactions, it looks like it was a welcome and fun surprise!
This easy-going couple has some words of advice for other couples planning their own destination wedding. “Enjoy the moment and don’t get too stressed out during the planning process. Everything will work out and the friends and family who attend your destination wedding will be there for the both of you!”
