A Meaningful Puerto Rico Wedding

John and Chasity opted for a destination wedding as much for their family and friends as for themselves. “We decided, instead of spending money on a ceremony at home, we would have our wedding in paradise and also take our family and friends on a once-in-a-lifetime trip,” recalls the couple. As for the “where,” the couple opted for Puerto Rico. Not only is it beautiful, but the couple had never been there before and their guests not needing passports was an added bonus.

To ensure the smoothest process possible, the couple quickly enlisted the help of a wedding planner. “Our planner, Ashley Greene, helped us work with a travel agent at Four Seasons Travel and we were shown several locations in the Caribbean,” says Chasity. “We chose the El Conquistador Resort because of the beauty of the resort and location in Puerto Rico. It exceeded our expectations.”

Thankfully, the couple hiring Posh Petails and Pearls, proved to be a wide decision. “With the outstanding support of our wedding planner, the process was very exciting, enjoyable and, for the most part, stress-free. We definitely recommend using a wedding planner and a travel agent when taking on this complicated task.”

John and Chasity went to great lengths to streamline their wedding weekend…opting to spend as much time as possible with their guests. “We all flew out of the same airport aboard the same flight to make everything easier,” recalls the bride. “Once we arrived in Puerto Rico, we had a bus that transported us all as a group. Not only was this the easiest, but it was fun traveling as a group!”

Upon arrival, the couple had welcome bags waiting for their guests. “The bags included items for them to enjoy at the beach, a tote to carry around and the itinerary for the wedding weekend,” says Chasity. In the end, the couple got the beautiful, family-filled wedding they had dreamed of.

“We feel we ended up spending more money than we would have at home, but we spared no expense to make the event as memorable as possible for our guests and ourselves,” says the couple. “We were able to gift the entire trip to our family. This was worth it to have everyone there to celebrate with us. Having a wedding in such a beautiful place we had never experienced made our wedding that much more extraordinary and memorable. It gave us a once-in-a-lifetime vacation that encompassed our wedding dreams.”

When it comes to advice for other couples planning a destination wedding, John and Chasity shared some wise words. “Just remember, at the end of the day, it’s about the two of you starting your journey through life together and the memories you make [along the way.] Everything won’t be exactly the way you want it, so just relax and enjoy the experience. And, remember, you only do this once, so go all out.”
