Having lived in the Valley of the Sun for over ten years now, I’m often asked about local hot-spots for destination weddings, honeymoons and romantic getaways. Ironically enough, I’ve been to some of the most romantic spots across the globe, but haven’t explored much right here in my now-home state of Arizona. Thus, when an opportunity presented itself to visit the renowned Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North for Destination I Do, I jumped at the opportunity.

My boyfriend being a golf aficionado, he quickly hopped on board for a mini-getaway to north Scottsdale. The Four Seasons’ location honestly offers the best of both worlds – romantic, Sonoran Desert isolation, but only a 20-minute drive from some of the best shopping Scottsdale has to offer and a 40-minute ride from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

While proximity to local sites is important, you just might stay put at this desert oasis for the duration of your stay. Not growing up in the desert, it’s sometimes hard to truly appreciate the beauty of the arid landscape and rolling mountains surrounding cityscapes. However, a visit to the Four Seasons Scottsdale set me straight and reminded me how the desert can make a truly romantic backdrop for a destination wedding or honeymoon.

The resort’s many casitas are scattered throughout the cozy grounds and tucked between natural rock formations and looming cacti. Book a suite for your destination wedding or honeymoon and enjoy your own private hot-tub set against a mountain, large outdoor patio and spacious interiors. If you’re lucky, you’ll be welcomed with a hand-mixed prickly pear margarita and toast to a fabulous stay.

After a hike around the area, you’ll be ready for some savory Southwestern cuisine. Proof is casual dining done right with great breakfast and a signature lunch/dinner menu item in the form of homemade chipotle-bacon caramel popcorn. For a romantic meal worthy of a special occasion, Talavera is a must. Be sure to arrive before nightfall to get a panoramic view of one of Arizona’s infamous sunsets. The food is decadent, the service superb and it’s all within steps of your private casita.

If you’re visiting the lovely Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North for the first time, squeezing in a round at the breathtaking Troon North Golf Club can’t be missed. Four Seasons’ guests get a discounted rate and a complimentary shuttle will take you to the nearby courses. I was lucky enough to play the club’s signature Monument course. If you have golf-lovers in your life, this is a true treat. The course is integrated seamlessly into the desert landscape and offers some of the best views of the surrounding valley. This is one of the more popular courses in the state, so be sure to book your tee-time in advance.

If you’re after an intimate and exotic destination wedding or honeymoon, Scottsdale and the Four Seasons just might be your dream location. You’re virtually guaranteed sunshine in this desert oasis and the service at the Four Seasons is unparalleled.
