Lorena and Gjergj never doubted that they wanted a destination wedding for their “I do’s.” The “when” and the “why” was simple, it was only the “where” which was left to be decided. “We knew we wanted a small wedding that was intimate, simple and most of all fun, while at the same time arranging it to show our personalities,” recalls the bride. “Most people worry a lot to have [the] wedding done perfectly for the guests, where as for us it was important to have a wedding where both of us would have fun along with our guests. We did not want it to be stressful.”

Thankfully, in large part due to their wedding planner, these two got the stress-free wedding of their dreams. So, how did they decide the “where?” “I chose the location by searching online,” says Lorena. “I knew I did not want an all-inclusive resort. Instead I was looking for a small place that was personal and had a lot of character. Tulum was the perfect fit. El Pez provided us with the exceptional service of a fine boutique hotel. There was never a dull moment in Tulum with the seafront cabanas which let you experience the unspoiled natural beauty of white sand and turquoise water…”

Due to the couple’s passion for travel, their 35 guests weren’t surprised at all to learn of a destination wedding in the works. In fact, they were thrilled! While Lorena was nervous planning a wedding away at first, she quickly relied on her wedding planner and let the process unfold naturally. “We trusted her and when we arrived we were more than happy with what she had done,” says she bride. “Looking back, it was probably way less stressful than what my friends had to do when they planned their weddings.”

In the end, the couple got the laid-back, beautiful beach wedding of their dreams. Not only that, but they believe they saved themselves some heartache and hard-earned cash along the way. “[We] spent significantly less money by choosing to do a destination wedding and as cliché as it sounds, we had the best time of our lives,” says Lorena. “Everything was dreamy and super fun. The best feeling was seeing everyone enjoy themselves. Even six months later our guests still talk about how much fun they had and we have incredible photography to show for it.”

Come W-Day, Lorena and Gjergj had a unique and intimate event. Following a lovely ceremony on the beach and some stunning portrait shots with their photographer, Dean Sanderson, the two settled down to a delicious dinner with their guests. “…[the dinner] was as emotional as it was fun, with most guests getting up with amazing speeches with music in the background,” reflects the bride. “After the dinner we rented a dance floor outside on the beach where everyone danced the whole night while enjoying the breeze, the beautiful stars and lastly the unforgettable sunrise. We would never have been able to have that back home.”

Not surprisingly, when asked for some final words of advice for other couples planning a destination wedding, Lorena and Gjergj kept it straight-forward and simple: “Destination weddings are the way to go! Trust your wedding planner and allow people to help you. Just enjoy the big day, it goes by way too fast.”
