Vermont Destination Wedding

While most destination wedding couples have a love of travel, one’s hometown always holds a special place in the heart. Tara and Jason met playing beach volleyball in sunny L.A., but it was their East Coast roots which bonded them.
This would come to transform itself into the couple’s overall wedding vibe. “The combination of East vs. West Coast shaped the theme and feel of our wedding day – country and glamour,” says the couple.
Tara and Jason knew they wanted to have their reception in a barn on the East Coast, so naturally they settled on Vermont – known for exactly that. The rustic setting combined with soft, muted colors and candlelight were the perfect equation for country plus glamour. Despite their dream barn reception coming to fruition, it was the ceremony which sticks out most in the couple’s minds. It took place on a hilltop surrounded by 140 well-wishers seated on log benches. After exchanging hand-written vows, guests threw celebratory rose petals and hydrangeas high into the air.
Some highlights of the couple’s wedding weekend: the big yellow school busses which transported guests to and fro, fireworks as a surprise to the newlyweds from the groom’s parents, and the couple’s favorite comfort foods like pie, ice cream sundaes, cotton candy and late-night sliders with french fries.
Tara has heartfelt advice to pass on to other destination wedding brides. Advice she says would have helped her in planning her own dream affair. “Don’t rush. I felt rushed to make decisions and there IS time! Clip magazines, search Pinterest, find out what you like and don’t be afraid to break tradition. It’s the things you do which are different that people will appreciate and remember most.”
