It’s a hipster’s paradise, an environmentalist’s mecca, and a coffee-drinking, craft-beer-obsessed metropolis. You guessed it: Portland, Oregon! With so much to do in and around the downtown area alone, Portland has become a popular destination for weddings, and The Nines, a Luxury Collection Hotel is leading the charge. Recently, the hotel brought together a group of talented local vendors to create two styled wedding shoots that highlight the property’s greatest assets. Kasey Conner, Director of Group & Event Sales at The Nines shared with us the inspiration behind each lovely wedding display below:

Cityview Living Room Shoot:

“All white, modern and chic, this styled shoot had all the feels. A grand marble staircase led to Kelsey and Luke’s luxurious ceremony set up. We paired the Nines fun and funky artsy vibe with an all-white look, white sand glass chairs and an understated bouquet. Artful delicate flower towers and lanterns adorned their aisle. Floor-to-ceiling historic windows paired with our modern crystal chandeliers bring modern and vintage together in this gorgeous event space. After the “I Do”, cheers with some bubbly while overlooking the city. A beautiful all-white three-tier cake with sugar flower brought the entire look together. The Cityview Living Room is located on our 6th floor and has absolutely amazing lighting.  The space is accessible by an amazing all-white marble staircase that is custom built around our largest and most ornate art piece, Birdsong. Birdsong is a three-story-tall, hand-blown glass sculpture that has corresponding light and sounds of birds from the Pacific Northwest. It is our crown jewel here at The Nines and we really wanted to create a beautiful space to say “I do” while highlighting this amazing art piece.”

Departure Rooftop Shoot:

“For this shoot, we used the city as our inspiration. The amazing views from our 15th-floor deck are an inspiration in their own right.  We wanted to have a simple but elegant ceremony space framing the Portland city skyline. The day of the shoot was raining all day until magically the skies cleared and we were able to capture these amazing shots. The chairs were specifically placed to have the two skyscrapers align to make an aisle, thus the magical city of Portland was our inspiration. Departure is really a special place, it’s one of the top restaurants in Portland with such an amazing view. We wanted to reimagine the space as a place to say “ I Do” while enjoying panoramic views of the city. The beauty of the space lends itself to minimal decorations and the skyline is hard to beat.”
