A Trendy Registry Alternative

The destination wedding couple is constantly evolving and so are their wants and desires. For example, a lot of couples now live together before getting married and so a traditional wedding registry is losing its appeal. When a couple already has an established home, it’s much more likely they would like to register for their honeymoon or experiences instead of a china set or kitchen appliances. Thankfully, there are unique registry services out there for couples who want to do something a little different.

Australia-based digital wedding registry, Envelope Registry, is one such example. The latest on the cash contribution service scene, Envelope Registry allows couples to easily and effectively ask their guests for cash in lieu of a traditional wedding gift. The trick is that the cash is designated toward various experiences or items, so guests don’t feel like they’re just writing a check. As the wedding couple, you can create a free registry through Envelope, which is completely designed to suit your and your beloved’s personalities.
Using imagery from the VSCO community, every item or experience on your registry is easy to visualize for your guests. They can then contribute money toward the items you select – anything from 100 miles toward an airline ticket and a dinner in Paris, to bottles of wine and yoga lessons. Since Envelope is new to the U.S. scene, if there’s something you would like to register for and can’t find on the site, simply email them and they will add it for you!
“We’re seeing a paradigm shift with modern couples wanting to receive experiences or to choose physical items from different independent makers, rather than getting everything from one department store,” says Simon Baldwin, co-founder of Envelope. “Envelope is catered to the folks who’d rather share a bottle of wine with the friends who bought it for them or create memories wandering through a foreign city, rather than receiving a kitchen blender from a big box store.”
Also, just launched last month, Envelope can now handle your “thank you” notes. All you need to do is type a personal note to each of your guests and either upload a photo or choose from a range of cards, then Envelope prints, handwrites and mails out your “thank you” cards.
Couples can create, edit and share their Envelope registry for free. However, guests are charged a six percent fee for their contribution and credit card. For more information on Envelope registry or to begin creating your own registry, visit enveloperegistry.com.
