For a couple that loves to travel, Margo and Alex knew they wanted to have a destination wedding. The couple chose to have a Florida destination wedding on the riverfront that would be a fun experience for everyone, especially because it’s located in one of the couple’s favorite places.

Florida, which the couple visits annually for a family trip, was an easy choice for the couple when it came to deciding where to have their destination wedding. “We take an annual family trip with my entire extended family each year to Rosemary Beach and we came across WaterColor Inn & Resort when researching wedding venues in the area,” says the bride. “It seemed to be a perfect fit for what we were looking for, so we just booked it sight unseen.”

For the couple’s family and friends, they were completely on board. “I think our friends expected us to do a destination wedding, so it didn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone,” says Margo. “Both of my sisters had destination weddings, so it was a no-brainer for me! From the beginning, my mom would have preferred a big Dallas wedding, but after it was all said and done I wouldn’t have changed a thing.”

After picking the wedding venue at the WaterColor Inn & Resort, it was time to plan their special day. The couple worked with Nina Dolin, one of the hotel’s wedding coordinators, to make sure things ran smoothly and were stress free. “Working with Nina made things very easy and relaxed,” says Margo. “She provided very helpful suggestions and really helped make our ideas for our weekend come to life. In my opinion, having a wedding at a resort is the way to go. The entire process seems much more turnkey than other venues.”

When it came to travel logistics for the guests, the couple worried about their friends and family finding a place to stay in the area. “We worried that there wouldn’t be available or affordable rentals, reasonable airline fares, etcetera,” says the bride. “We had to ultimately just trust that it would all work out and that the guests that truly wanted to be there to celebrate with us would make it happen.”

When the couple’s big day arrived, it was a special and memorable experience for not only the couple, but all of their guests. “We had a wonderful welcome party on Thursday night for everyone traveling in to kick off the weekend festivities,” says Margo. “All of our guests got to enjoy a vacation in our favorite place as well as experience our wedding weekend, which made it double the fun.”

Margo and Alex say that destination weddings are the way to go and wanted to give a piece of advice to other couples. “Trust that all of your vendors are professionals and that things will go smoothly without micromanaging,” the couple says. “Try not to worry over the weather because it is completely out of your control and most importantly, enjoy every minute of your destination wedding weekend because it goes by way too fast!”
