Trendy Bridesmaid & Bridal LooksWords by Courtney Kellar

Shopping for your and your bridesmaids’ W-Day looks is meant to be a fun process, but sometimes it can quickly become overwhelming. Thankfully, in the past few years, choosing bridesmaids’ dresses in varying shades and styles has become trendy, thus making it a lot easier to accommodate all body types and personal style preferences. While bridesmaid dress styles are now more trendy and not so stuffy and formal, it wasn’t always the case.
When designer Joanna August was planning her own August 2008 nuptials, she was frustrated in the bridesmaid choices on the market. Having put so much thought into the overall design and style of her wedding, she was surprised to find she couldn’t find dresses for her bridesmaids, which were classy and stylish. Thus, she created her own bridesmaids dresses and the Joanna August Collection was born. Since launching the company in early 2009, the Joanna August Collection has expanded to include trendy styles like jumpsuits and two pieces and even a new White Out dress collection for the bride.
According to the brand’s website, “Bridal doesn’t have to be boring – that’s our philosophy at Joanna August. Five years after launching, we continue to push the envelope of bridal fashion, designing fun, flattering, fashion-forward dresses for the girl who has a personality and isn’t afraid to show it! We love to mix colors, styles and hem lengths and our dresses, like our clients, cannot be confined to weddings. Our goal is to provide fashion that allows you to express your taste and personality…”
We’ve selected some of our favorite bridesmaids looks, as well as some heavy hitters from the brand’s new White Out Collection tailored toward brides. For more information or to begin shopping, visit joannaaugust.com.
