Maui, Hawaii Wedding Venue - Merriman'sWords by Jennifer Stein
Tucked on the coastline of Kapalua, Maui, Merriman’s is the new “one stop shop” for wedding getaways. Now found on three of Hawaii’s islands (Big Island and Kauai being the other two), Merriman’s is helping give brides and grooms an alternative for wedding venues.
“Our Maui location is definitely geared for weddings,” says Merriman’s Event Manager, Joanie Kirk. “The location is epic since we’re set on Kapalua Bay, rated one of the area’s most romantic beaches. We have a huge outdoor deck location overlooking the ocean which is perfect for ceremonies. Our open-air restaurant allows parties to move inside for dinner yet not miss out on the view.”
Recently, Aimee and Chris Hirata tied the knot at Merriman’s. They were in the area scouting for their upcoming wedding and stopped off for dinner after being referred by a friend. “Merriman’s is so charming and classy…all the doors open up so that you feel like you are on someone’s patio. It turned out to be the perfect place for our wedding,” recalls Aimee.
The property is able to accommodate parties from two to 300 with the option of doing a full restaurant buy-out. Merriman’s also offers a fabulous option for those trying to keep their budgets in check, “what’s great about our location, since we’re not open for lunch, is the option to do a buy-out for day weddings. The minimum for food and beverage is only $1,000 and couples can enjoy the property from ten in the morning until two in the afternoon,” says Joanie.
For Aimee and Chris, the biggest standout was how impeccable the customer service was. “The thing that we were most pleasantly surprised about was the staff’s service. They were incredible and the food was so good. They all went above and beyond – even to the point that when my young nieces and nephews (being slightly picky eaters) weren’t eating their dinners, the staff brought them Cheerios to keep them happy!”
As for the other vendors you’ll need for a wedding in Maui? Joanie’s got you covered. “I use all of the best vendors on Maui. After being here and in the wedding business for over 5 years, I know exactly who those people are.” Another plus? They’re located close to the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, so accommodations are only a stone’s throw away.
Chef and restaurateur,Peter Merriman, is known as the pioneer for his enticing Hawaiian regional cuisine and farm to table freshness. Their menu is created using 90% locally grown ingredients, most of which are farmed organically.
Combine the stand-out menu with their on-site coordinator, picture perfect view and quality service; we may have to agree with Joanie when she says, “it’s literally the best location on Maui’s west side.”Photo courtesy of Merriman's
