Combat Aging With This App

It seems like there’s an app for everything nowadays! Now there’s an app to help you combat aging called My Own App. Use the free app to find your “beauty number.” The app uses facial-recognition technology to track 50 points on your face and then provides a clinical evaluation of the major signs of aging.

Depending on your results, the app will then make wellness and beauty recommendations. My Own App assesses signs of aging by the number of fine lines, deep-set wrinkles, percentage of pigment and number of age spots. For better or worse, those numbers are then compared to others in your age group.
Use your iPhone, iPad or Android to take a photo of your face, answer a few questions, then indicate your skin type and date of birth. Submit your information and within about two minutes you’ll receive an analysis of your complexion. After the evaluation you’ll receive a side-by-side comparison of the current photo and a photo of what you could look like after following a recommended skin car and wellness regimen.
Doing what’s recommended? Great – there’s also a way to track how your complexion changes over time. Some example of tips are to sleep on silk pillowcases to forestall wrinkles and eating potassium rich foods to decrease pigmentation.
I’ve always been told by aestheticians that I have great skin, but that it is a bit dryer than most due to living in a desert climate. So, I tried out My Own App to see what it had to say. Apparently, I have more pigmentation than most people my age (to many long hours in the Arizona sun?), so the app gave me a recipe for an avocado face mask to help protect against dry skin. Interesting, huh?
My Own App is free and available for download on your iPhone, iPad or Android. To begin your own evaluation, you can download the app from the iTunes store here. Good luck!
