Destination weddings not only bring excitement and fun to your big day, but also a little adventure. Every bride wants to look her best when walking down the aisle and that includes a perfectly coiffed hairstyle. When traveling to a new spot, you not only want to be on-trend with your hairstyle, but also account for differing humidity and temperatures from what you may usually encounter at home. Master Stylist, Brenda Dusseaux from Zolton’s Salonand Day Spa, has come up with some hair tips and trends for fall across different types of destinations. Be sure to meet with a local hairstylist who knows the weather in your chosen destination and who can recommend the best style for you based on your hair type and the season.

Fall Destination Wedding Hair Trends

Fall wedding season allows great escapes to cooler weather or getaways to destinations which allow you to take in the last of the season’s sun.

Hawaii

Hawaii is a great wedding destination year-round, but has exceptionally nice weather in the fall. The biggest hair challenge here is to beat the humidity and keep hair frizz-free. Make sure to shampoo and conditioner your hair with a smoothing formula, add an anti-frizz serum and blow dry before styling to ensure you stay frizz free. Soft, romantic beach waves are perfect for this destination. Wearing your hair half up will give the style longevity to last through the humidity and the entire wedding. Try loosely pinning back the sides of your hair, letting a few soft pieces fall around the face. Get inspired by the beauty of Hawaii and place fresh tropical flowers in your hair.

Central Park, New York City

Capture the romance of the changing season and fall leaves. This look can work for other crisp, fall outdoor destinations as well. Nature is the decor and the hairstyle should capture the essence of pure beauty. Try a sweet demure look of simple loose waves that cascade down in front of the shoulders and back, and peek through your veil. The hair and veil work together to create this romantic style.

Palm Springs

Palm Springs is a resort town filled with boutique, retro destinations. Your wedding updo should capture this style with fun and excitement. A modern retro beehive is fresh and flirty for your special day. This location allows for a little fun, play off the atmosphere and kick up the volume and height in the beehive.

Napa

Napa has a great old-world style with a European feel which can inspire your hair style. Add drama with a voluminous Chignon by backcombing the entire top section of the hair and smoothing it back into a round bun at the nape of the neck. Keep the shine and smoothness of your hair without it looking like an overly teased mess. The amount of “bump” in the do depends on the bride, do what matches you best. Finish off the look with decorative pins or a bold hair ornament.
