Crisna and Brandon held a beautiful destination wedding in Hawaii, but that’s not what this post is about. We’ve all heard of “trash the dress” sessions, but what this couple did instead is different, but still breathtakingly beautiful. These two couldn’t say “goodbye” to their photographer, so they opted for a day-after photo session that highlighted their chosen wedding destination: Maui.

The group got creative and the couple’s photographer, Angie Diaz, recycled the bridesmaid’s bouquet to create a floral crown for Crisna. We love the way this couple not only captured their newlywed glow, but took full advantage of the gorgeous destination in which they chose to say, “I do.”

We asked the bride about her vision for W-Day and the day after. “I mostly wanted everything to feel easy going, family style (intimate) and, of course, Hawaiian! Simple, natural and personal is what I was going for as far as the overall vision.”

As for the planning process, Crisna looks back on the experience positively. “[Planning was] not that stressful…I only cried once and it was over deciding the flavor of cake layers, lol! I really enjoyed learning about Hawaii as I did all the research for our destination wedding. Everything took a lot of work and research since we were planning this by ourselves, but everything worked out in the most beautiful way! We met so many wonderful people that we will never forget…”

One such person was their photographer, Angie Diaz Photography. “[The best decision we made was] to have Angie as our photographer! I cannot express how much she was a blessing for us. She helped in so many ways that words cannot express. Not only does her work speak for itself, but once you meet her it goes to a whole other level!” 

Seeing as how this bride pulled-off both a beautiful destination wedding and a day-after session, we asked her for some tips and tricks for other couples. “Start planning ahead of time so you don’t feel too stressed out and follow your gut feeling! Also, I wish I would have had a day-of coordinator, just so I didn’t have to worry about all the little details. Oh yeah, and don’t forget the reason you are doing all of this!”
