A wedding gown is arguably one of the most important articles you will ever purchase. It carries you stylishly into the next chapter of your life – that’s a lot of pressure to put on a dress. Finding the right dress for you to swap vows in may even be more difficult than you finding the person you want to marry.

Bridal gowns are constantly changing and evolving – it’s not just about white ball gowns anymore. Every year, the best designers in bridal showcase their latest collections for the upcoming season. Below, we’ve rounded up the latest trends and styles in bridal that we can’t wait to see walking down the runway and the aisle!

1. Showing Some Skin – We absolutely love the illusion style gowns that are popping up all over. Illusion style gowns let your skin show through while still being covered by a tulle that matches your skin tone. The great thing about the illusion style is that it’s very versatile. You can opt to have just some of your back showing, or you can go a little bolder with an illusion bodice or skirt. Idan Cohen’s upcoming collection is whimsical and daring, while still being beautiful and wedding appropriate.

2. Sleeves – You may be wondering why we chose to follow-up our excitement for showing a little more skin with covering up with sleeves. I have always been a huge fan of sleeved wedding dresses, but we aren’t talking about your ordinary long sleeves here. Expect to see more detailed and unique sleeves making their way through Bridal Market. From off the shoulder to billowing bell sleeves, be prepared to see a variety of styles that will make you consider covering up. Nurit Hen’s upcoming collection has gorgeous and unique sleeves that give you a fashion forward look while keeping you covered.

3. Separates – The versatility of separates cannot be beat. Some brides choose to have more than one dress for their wedding, but with separates, it’s easy to swap out different pieces that go with different aspects of your wedding. Exchange vows in a romantic skirt and top, and then change into some pants that you and your future significant other can bust a move in during your reception. Charlie Brear makes pairing separates effortlessly chic with stylish separates in the brand’s latest collection. Crop tops, voluminous skirts and even wide legged pants are popping up in the new bridal collections.

As Bridal Market kicks off this weekend, stay tuned for more from Destination I Do covering one of the most exciting times of the year for us. In fact, for those of you wanting more immediate info and inspiration, be sure to follow us on Instagram, as we’ll have a handful of on-site wedding experts doing Instagram takeovers on DID’s account throughout New York Bridal Week!
