Bridal Fashion Week in New York City is quite easily the mecca of wedding fashion, as it features the latest dress designs from the geniuses of the wedding fashion industry. DID is telling you what to expect from designers at the NYFW Bridal Shows (April 14th to 19th) and The Knot Couture Show (April 16th to 18th). Hold tight to your wallets or you may end up falling in love with multiple must-have wedding dresses in this season’s rollout!

Most Anticipated Shows

The level of talent of Bridal Fashion Week designers is simply incomparable, but there are a select few that we think are perfect for destination wedding looks:

1. Birenzweig: We love the looks coming out of Birenzweig for two reasons: they are mixing modern and traditional with a simple silhouette and detailed designs. According to their designers, Adi and Ofir, they use special techniques of cutting and rebuilding to develop handmade fabrics with innovative details.
2. Monique Lhuillier: Brides look like royalty in Monique Lhuillier’s whimsical, sexy gowns. The princess look pairs a sheer corset top with a ball gown skirt for the perfect, slimming physique!
3. Theia: What lady doesn’t love pearls? Theia’s creative director, Don O’Neill can’t get enough of them! The Knot says he was inspired by pearls and created the barely-there hues that present hints of colors like blues and pinks that mimic pearls’ opalescence.

Fall/Winter Trend Predictions

The hottest designers are teaching us that this year’s trends are all about intricate details. The Knot scouted the runways with the top designers for their trend predictions and we couldn’t agree more with their picks:

• Pearl Embellishments
• Shades of Blue

• Allover Beading
• Statement Bows

A Look At Last Season’s Trends

Our most-loved looks from this past season are numerous, but we thought we’d give a recap of a few favorites!

1. The Cape: Brides floated down the aisle with capes of all different lengths. Claire Pettibone rolled out the Gypsy Rose gown that featured French embroidery layered over floral embroidered tulle, and to pair with this stunning dress was the Gypsy Cape. The look made for picturesque moments of brides strolling through breathtaking landscapes with their capes blowing in the wind.
2. Mid-Length: The party was started at weddings across the country with the middy, jewelled dresses that were to-die-for! We specifically loved Galia Lahav’s Valerian embroidered column dress. The deep plunging v-neckline and silver fringes called for a luxurious wedding in Italy.
3. Hints of Color: Color found its way onto last season’s dresses and we lusted after these gowns! Hayley Paige featured her Rosé lace and tulle skirt bridal ball gown with a sweetheart neckline corset and spaghetti-straps. This dress had us dreaming of boutique hotel weddings!
4. Not-Gowns: We were welcomed to the modern era with white rompers, suits and two-piece dresses for brides who wanted a different look for their wedding, reception or elopement. Our favorites came from Rime Arodaky’s 2018 Civil Collection that provided a sexy edge to a fresh look, perfect for small tropical weddings!
